A wind advisory is in effect in parts of San Diego County from 1 p.m. to midnight Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

West winds from 20 mph to 30 mph, with gusts between 45 mph and 55 in passes and canyons, are expected in San Diego County’s mountains and deserts, and in the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning.

Gusty winds can blow around unsecured objects and tree limbs can blow down, causing power outages. Winds and blowing dust can cause hazardous driving conditions.

The NWS recommends using caution when driving, especially those operating high-profile vehicles, and to secure outdoor objects.
