A 27-year-old man was killed Thursday when his Ford F-150 pickup truck struck a tree and overturned in Carmel Valley.

San Diego Police officers were called at 4:02 p.m. to the 12200 block of Carmel Country Road where they found that the pickup’s driver had failed to negotiate a turn.

The truck struck the center median curb, went onto the median, struck a tree and flipped over, said Officer Robert Heims.

The driver died at the scene, Heims said.

The department’s Traffic Division is investigating the crash. Anyone with information related to it was asked to call police at 858- 495-7800 or San Diego Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
