A man riding a bicycle suffered serious injuries Sunday when a vehicle driven by an alleged drunk driver hit him in Normal Heights.

The car hit the rider, 61, at 4:43 p.m. in the 3400 block of North Mountain View Drive, according to San Diego police officer D. O’Brien.

The male driver’s black Honda Civic was proceeding west on Mountain View when his car hit a curb, went off the road and then crashed into the cyclist, O’Brien said.

Police described the bicyclist’s injuries as serious, but non-life-threatening.

Officers arrested the driver, 28, for allegedly driving under the influence, O’Brien said.
