Campuses often spotlight the best of their faculty’s art work, but this week the California Center for the Arts in Escondido pulls several together for one wide-ranging exhibit.
The center’s museum opens its biennial exhibition, “Campus Creatives: Featuring San Diego’s Fine Arts Faculty,” Saturday with new contemporary works from nearly 50 artists who teach at 14 local colleges and universities.
The campuses include UC San Diego, San Diego State, the University of San Diego, Cal State San Marcos and eight community colleges.
The exhibit, which continues through May 15, includes a range of work, from conceptual installations to traditional painting and drawing.
The opening reception takes place at 5 p.m. Friday – $20 tickets include admission to the museum plus a beverage and light hors d’oeuvres.
The center also will host two Wine Wednesday events, at 5 p.m. April 6 and May 4. Tickets, also $20, include museum admission, a beverage and light snacks.
The museum at the California Center for the Arts also is part of Second Saturdays, to support the arts in Escondido – that means admission will be half off on April 9 and May 14.
General admission costs $12.
