The Carlsbad Educational Foundation said this week that $45,000 in scholarships are available for students – the highest amount the nonprofit ever has awarded.

The foundation will join with the Judith Campbell Educational & Community Foundation to award nine scholarships for Carlsbad Unified School District seniors pursuing higher education.

This year’s scholarships include:

  • Two awards – $15,000, the largest – along with $10,000, from the Judith Campbell foundation;
  • $5,000 from the Carlsbad Educational Foundation, and
  • Six scholarships of $2,500 each from the Carlsbad Educational Foundation.

A third of the scholarships will be awarded to those who show need. Eligible students must have maintained a 3.0 GPA. Applications must be submitted by April 30.

The foundation’s CEO, Laura Pitts, noted that the 2022 awards will exceed the total the organization has awarded in one year. The scholarships will “help youth in our community pursue their dreams.”
