The La Jolla Music Society set a record for single-day ticket sales last week when tickets for its 2022-23 winter season went on sale.

The music society, which owns and operates The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center, recorded $70,377 in ticket revenue on Aug. 8 when single tickets went on sale for the season. The previous record was $47,083 in September 2021.

The record came midway through the society’s annual SummerFest, a popular four-week chamber music festival featuring over 80 artists.

“Over the past 15 seasons, San Diegans have come to trust the taste and curatorial skills of Artistic Director Leah Rosenthal, who crafted our winter season, which brings in huge stars in the worlds of music, jazz, and dance, as well as up-and-comers on the cusps of great careers,” said President and CEO Todd Schultz.

“We pride ourselves in presenting quality performers whom audience members can trust to give engaging performances whether they already know the name or not,” he added.

The nonprofit society stages classical, jazz, global roots and contemporary music, as well as dance at its state-of-the-art venue in La Jolla.
