MiraCosta’s Kruglak Gallery is now showing the powerful and exciting oils of Leslie Nemour in the Kruglak Gallery for its first in-person exhibit since the pandemic closures.
On the Cusp is a series of paintings that parallel unrelated imagery from cinematic sources and eras in film history to serve as the barometers of changing social norms and resistance. Both playful and biting, the compositions act as visual poetry but also speak of personal disenchantment, life choices, and the role of the past in the current psyche.
A popular full-time art professor, Nemour is responsible for many of the student murals in the district. She retired from MiraCosta College during the pandemic closures to focus more on her painting.
The Kruglak Gallery is located on the Oceanside Campus on the lower level of the Student Center, Building 3400.
On the Cusp is open now through April 15; gallery hours are Monday and Tuesday, from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m., and Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free. Masks are required.
