The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose to its highest amount since April 1 Sunday, increasing 3.3 cents to $5.949.

The average price has risen 12 of the past 13 days, increasing 17 cents, including 4.5 cents Saturday, its largest one-day increase since March 19, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 11.2 cents more than one week ago, 18.2 cents higher than one month ago and $1.80 greater than one year ago. It is 6.9 cents less than the record high of $6.018 set March 29.

The national average price rose 1.8 cents to a record $4.47, erasing the previous record set Saturday.
