The Stadium Trolley Station will be open for one day Saturday allowing fans to take transit to see the 5 p.m. San Diego State scrimmage at the all-new Snapdragon Stadium.
Whether you’re a football fan or want to see a milestone – the first public event at the venue – the trolley’s Green Line will be available. It also might be the best option – be warned, there will be no drive-up gameday parking due to ongoing construction.
The Metropolitan Transit System will offer service to the Stadium Station every 15 minutes all day Saturday. Snapdragon opens at 1 p.m.
MTS recommends free park-and-ride lots at Old Town, Hazard Center, El Cajon Transit Center, Morena/Linda Vista and 70th Street for travel on the Green Line. From the Blue Line, which transfers to the Green Line, go to Balboa Avenue, Tecolote Road, Nobel Drive or the Bayfront/E Street station in Chula Vista.
SDSU also will offer paid parking at the College Area campus for $20, including round-trip trolley passes for up to four fans to the stadium.
The Stadium Station closes again Monday and will reopen permanently on Sept. 3 for the Aztecs’ first regular-season home game, against the University of Arizona.
The station for years provided access to the old stadium – Qualcomm, then SDCCU lent their names to the site – which began to be demolished in 2020 to make way for Snapdragon, part of the SDSU Mission Valley project.
