The recent summer-like weather in San Diego will turn foggy and cooler this weekend, with a major storm arriving Sunday night, according to the latest National Weather Service forecast.
“For the weekend, onshore flow will strengthen further with much cooler conditions spreading well inland with more low clouds and fog by Sunday morning as the
marine layer deepens,” the weather service said.
“A significant storm system will bring widespread rain and high elevation snow Sunday night, continuing at times through Tuesday morning,” the agency added.
But it will still be warm on Friday, with high temperatures forecast to be 71 to 76 near the coast, 78 to 83 inland, 84 to 89 in the valleys, 77 to 84 in the mountains and 94 to 99 in the deserts.
Temperatures will drop about 5 degrees along the coast on Saturday, but it will be warm inland until Sunday.
The weather service warned that the fog could reduce visibility for small craft and at the beaches.
The storm beginning Sunday night is expected to drop up to an inch of rain on the coast and valleys, and up to two inches in the mountains.
