A former Granite Hills High School teacher suspected of sexual misconduct against a minor was arrested Wednesday, according to a broadcast report.

Gerald Lopez was arrested in El Cajon for suspicion of possession of obscene material of a minor in a sexual act, harmful matter sent with interest to seduce a minor and annoy or molest a victim under the age of 18, NBC7 reported.

“The El Cajon Police Department informed us Wednesday afternoon that, as a result of their investigation, they have arrested the former Granite employee on felony and misdemeanor charges,” Granite Hills High School Principal Christina Wilde wrote in a letter sent to parents Wednesday that was obtained by NBC7.

According to the letter, the Grossmont Union High School District also conducted its own investigation and as a result, Lopez no longer works for the district.

Details about the allegations were not released and the district said it wouldn’t comment further on the investigation, according to broadcast reports.
