The new home of the San Diego Sockers will be called Frontwave Arena, thanks to a naming rights partnership for the entertainment and sports arena being built in Oceanside.

The 10-year partnership between Oside Arena Management and Frontwave Credit Union will begin with the arena’s expected opening by the fall of 2023.

“We’re dreaming big with the creation of a state-of-the-art entertainment complex in Oceanside, and we’ve got a naming rights partner that dreams big as well,” said Oside Arena Management President Sean Bowers, who added that “together, we look to change the face of entertainment in San Diego’s North County.”

Frontwave Arena is currently under construction in the El Corazón sports complex area near Oceanside Boulevard and Rancho del Oro Drive.

The 170,000-square-foot arena, which will host more than 6,000 fans for sporting events and up to 7,600 for concerts, will include a restaurant, bars and concessions, a plaza and 16 luxury suites.

“Frontwave has been serving the Oceanside community for 70 years, and we’re proud to be a key partner in this exciting project that will benefit the entire North County region,” said Bill Birnie, the company’s president and CEO. “The Frontwave Arena will not only serve as a community gathering space, but also as an important economic driver for the area.”

Frontwave will be the host arena of the Sockers – MASL champs for two seasons straight – as well as possible other future sports tenants. In addition, the arena will host concerts, high school and college sports and community events throughout the year.

“We see Frontwave Arena becoming a hub of activity for North County the likes of which we have never seen before,” Bowers said.

Oside Management partnered with Sudberry Properties to bring the arena project to life, with Watkins Landmark Construction as the building partner. Icon Architectural Group designed the arena.

Fans and community members can learn more and track the progress as Frontwave Arena is built online.
