A motorist was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and another driver was arrested on a felony warrant at a DUI checkpoint, authorities said.
The checkpoint was conducted between 6 p.m. Friday and midnight in the 600 block of E Street, said Sgt. Anthony Molina of the Chula Vista Police Department.
Of 1,740 vehicles traveling through the checkpoint, 714 vehicles were screened and eight drivers were given sobriety tests, the sergeant said.
Nine citations were issued to drivers who were unlicensed or had suspended licenses. Six vehicles were impounded.
The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
